Roses des Sables (Chocolate and Cornflake Cookies)

These “desert roses” look like the desert jewel, and they are delicious! A very easy recipe to make with kids. Serve with a nice glass of milk.

  • ¾ cup butter
  • 7 oz. dark chocolate chips
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 5 oz. cornflakes, unsweetened


  • Fill a small saucepan with the butter and the chocolate chips. Melt slowly over very low heat. Stir continuously with a wooden spoon until the chocolate and the butter are totally melted. Pour in the powdered sugar, stir until the mixture is perfectly smooth, and remove from heat.
  • In a large bowl, put the unsweetened cornflakes. Pour the chocolate sauce on them, and stir with the wooden spoon until all flakes are covered in chocolate. Put a parchment paper sheet on a baking sheet. Using 2 spoons, take a spoonful of chocolate flakes and make small mounds of about 2". Lay them on the parchment paper. Put in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
