Rutabaga Oven Fries
Though not really fried, these golden batons look and feel like French fries, and are great for dipping in ketchup or aïoli (garlic mayonnaise).

- 1 large rutabaga, peeled
- 1 Tbsp. canola oil
- 1½ tsp. seasoned salt
- 1 tsp. garlic powder
- 1 tsp. thyme
- ½ tsp. freshly ground black pepper
- Heat oven to 400°F. Slice rutabaga into 2½" × ½" sticks (batons); soak in cold water for 30 minutes. Dry thoroughly with towels. Toss gently with oil and ½ teaspoon salt.
- Spread fries into a single layer on a sheet pan and bake, turning occasionally, until lightly browned and tender, about 40 minutes. Remove from oven and toss with remaining salt, garlic powder, thyme, and black pepper.
