Salt-Free Whole Wheat Bread

This bread offers a burst of flavor from orange zest and dried herbs. Use it for your favorite heart-healthy sandwiches.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tsp. olive oil
  • 2 tsp. honey
  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup bread flour
  • ½ tsp. dried thyme
  • 1½ Tbsp. grated orange zest
  • ¾ tsp. active dry yeast

Directions

  • Place ingredients into the bread machine according to the manufacturer’s instructions. (Order of ingredients may vary.) Use the white bread cycle, and the light crust setting if available. Check the dough during the first few minutes of kneading, and adjust as necessary with more water or flour, 1 tablespoon at a time.
