Saltines
These crisp crackers are just as good with soup as the store-bought kind, maybe better. Sprinkle the tops with coarse salt, sesame seed, or leave plain.

Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1⁄2 tsp. baking soda
- 1⁄4 cup butter, softened
- 1 1⁄2 cups sour milk
- 1 large egg
Directions
- Preheat oven to 400°F. Lightly grease baking sheet.
- Sift dry ingredients into a large bowl. Cut in butter until coarse crumbs are formed. Add milk and egg; blend together.
- Knead dough until smooth. Let rest 10 minutes. Roll very thin on a floured surface.
- Cut in squares or other shapes; place on baking sheet and prick with a fork. Bake 10 minutes.
