Simple Applesauce

Late-summer and fall apples are so flavorful, they really don’t need spices, but apples that are kept long into the winter will need some help.

  • 8 medium apples, peeled and diced
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1⁄8 tsp. ground nutmeg


  • Add apples, water, cinnamon, and nutmeg to a saucepan.
  • Cook on low heat for 20 minutes, or until apples are soft.
  • Remove from the heat and carefully puree with an immersion blender until smooth. Let cool.
