Simple Quinoa

Rinse the quinoa well before cooking. Rinsing removes quinoa’s natural outer coating—called saponin—that can make the quinoa taste soapy and bitter.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup quinoa, rinsed and drained
  • 2 cups vegetable broth
  • ½ tsp. garlic salt
  • 1 tsp. fresh lemon juice

Directions

  • Combine quinoa and broth in a medium saucepan over high heat. Bring to a boil and then reduce heat to low and cover. Allow to simmer 20 minutes or until quinoa is tender and fluffy.
  • Fluff quinoa with a fork and stir in garlic salt and lemon juice. Serve warm.
