Sinangag (Garlic Fried Rice)
Sinangag is commonly served for breakfast in the Philippines, where it is often made with rice left over from the previous evening’s meal. You can serve this as a side to meat dishes, but it makes a hearty meal on its own.

- 2 Tbsp. vegetable oil, divided
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 Tbsp. minced garlic
- 4 oz. diced cooked ham
- 4 cups cooked white rice, chilled
- 1 Tbsp. soy sauce
- Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a medium skillet over high heat. Add eggs and cook for 1 minute without stirring until set on the bottom. Flip and cook the other side for 30 seconds. Remove from pan and slice into 1⁄4-inch strips.
- Return the skillet to the heat and add remaining oil. Add garlic and cook until fragrant, about 20 seconds. Add ham, rice, and soy sauce. Cook 5 minutes until heated through. Add the egg and fold to combine. Serve warm.
