Slow-Cooked Sloppy Joeys

Serve these fun Sloppy Joeys over mashed cauliflower, turnips, or winter squash.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. lean ground beef
  • 1 can (6 oz.) tomato paste
  • 2 Tbsp. raw honey
  • 1 Tbsp. dried onion flakes
  • 1 Tbsp. ground paprika
  • 1 tsp. ground cumin
  • 1 tsp. fresh lemon juice
  • ½ tsp. garlic powder
  • ¼ tsp. dry mustard
  • ¼ tsp. celery seed
  • ¼ tsp. ground black pepper
  • 1 cup warm filtered water
  • 1 tsp. almond meal
  • 4 hamburger buns

Directions

  • Sauté meat in a frying pan for 5 to 10 minutes, or until browned. Drain juices.
  • Add all ingredients to a 4-quart slow cooker and stir to mix and break up the ground meat.
  • Cover and cook on low for 6–7 hours or on high for 3–5 hours. Serve warm on hamburger buns.
