Slow Cooker Apple and Pear Chutney
Use green, slightly sour apples for a tangy and sweet chutney that goes perfectly with grilled meat, wraps, or even simple dal and rice.

- 2 cups chopped apple
- 2 cups chopped pear
- 1 small red chili, stem and seeds removed
- 1⁄4 cup dark brown sugar
- 1 Tbsp. finely chopped ginger
- 1⁄2 cup water
- 1 Tbsp. vegetable oil
- 1⁄2 tsp. cumin seeds
- 1⁄2 tsp. coriander seeds
- 1⁄2 tsp. mustard seeds
- 3 bay leaves
- Place apple, pear, chili, sugar, ginger, and water in a slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 4 hours or until the fruits are cooked through and begin to blend into each other.
- Heat the oil in a small skillet. Add the spices and cook until they sputter, about 1 minute. Combine this mixture with the cooked fruits in the slow cooker. Cover and cook for another 30 minutes. In the end, the chutney should be thin and syrupy. Cool down completely before storing or serving.
