Slow Cooker Groats
Oat groats are oats that have been hulled but left whole, thus retaining their high nutritional value because they haven’t been extensively processed. They take a long time to cook, making them perfect for the slow cooker!

Ingredients
- 2 cups gluten-free oat groats
- 6 cups water
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1⁄2 packed cup light brown sugar
- Maple syrup, brown sugar, and milk, for topping.
Directions
- Add all the ingredients except the toppings to a 4- or 6-quart slow cooker and cook on low for 8 to 10 hours. Top individual portions with maple syrup, a sprinkle of brown sugar, and milk.
