Slow Cooker Poached Figs with Ice Cream

Poach figs with port wine, sugar, and warm spices in a slow cooker. Serve the figs and their sauce with vanilla ice cream.

  • 15 black mission figs
  • 2 cups port wine
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 strip orange zest
  • ½ tsp. vanilla
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 2 quarts vanilla ice cream


  • Add all of the ingredients, except for the ice cream, to a 4-quart slow cooker. Cover and cook on high heat for 3–4 hours.
  • Cool slightly. Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Drizzle the cooking liquid over the ice cream and figs.
