  • 7⁄8 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup confectioners’ sugar, divided
  • 2 cups cake flour
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp. water


  • In a large bowl, cream together the butter and 1⁄2 cup confectioners’ sugar. Stir in the flour, walnuts, vanilla, and water. Mix well. Cover and chill until firm enough to shape with your fingers.
  • Preheat oven to 400°F. Form the dough into small balls and place on a greased baking sheet.
  • Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until lightly browned. Remove from the oven and immediately roll in remaining confectioners’ sugar to coat evenly. Let cool completely on a rack.
