Spiced Cherry Cranberry Sauce

This sauce is delicious over cakes, custards and fresh fruit

  • 1 can (14.5 oz.) tart cherries, undrained
  • 1 cup cranberries
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • 1 Tbsp. lemon juice
  • ¼ tsp. ground cinnamon
  • ⅛ tsp. ground cloves
  • ⅛ tsp. ground ginger
  • ⅛ tsp. salt


  • In a small saucepan, combine cherries and their juice with cranberries and sugar. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
  • In a small bowl, combine cornstarch with lemon juice. Add to pan with cherries and cook, stirring, until sauce is translucent, about 5 minutes. Stir in cinnamon, cloves, ginger, and salt.
  • Remove sauce from heat and serve warm. Store sauce, covered, in refrigerator up to 5 days.
