Spiced Mashed Sweet Potatoes
You don’t have to prepare sweet potatoes with crunchy or candy toppings to make them delicious. This is a tasty, and very nutritious, alternative to the traditional serving of buttered mashed potatoes. If you like sweet potatoes, you’ll love this side.

- 3 large sweet potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp. ground nutmeg
- 1 cup almond milk
- Place sweet potatoes in a large saucepan. Add enough water to cover potatoes. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Reduce heat to low, and simmer until fork-tender, about 30 minutes.
- Remove potatoes from heat, drain, and return to saucepan.
- Add cinnamon and nutmeg to sweet potatoes. Mash or beat until smooth, adding almond milk ¼ cup at a time until desired consistency is reached.
- Serve hot.
