Spicy Kokum Drink (Sol Kadhi)

Kokum is a highly-nutritious fruit from the western coast of India.

  • 8 pieces kokum
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 2 cloves garlic, peeled and crushed
  • 1 1⁄2 cans (14 oz.) light coconut milk
  • Pinch of table salt
  • Pinch of sugar


  • Soak the kokum in the hot water for about 1 hour. Strain and reserve the pink liquid. Discard the kokum.
  • In a deep stockpot, combine the pink liquid with all the remaining ingredients; mix well. Serve chilled.
