Spicy Roasted Pecans

The chili powder and cayenne in these pecans give them a spicy little kick! Wrap them up in cellophane, or put into a small mason jar, tie with a ribbon, and give as a gift.

  • 1 egg white
  • 1 tsp. cold water
  • 1 lb. pecan halves
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1⁄2 tsp. salt
  • 1⁄2 tsp. chili powder
  • 1⁄8 tsp. ground cayenne
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1⁄4 tsp. nutmeg


  • Beat egg white and water until frothy. Add pecans and stir to coat. In a separate bowl, mix sugar, salt, chili powder, cayenne, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Add pecans and mix well.
  • Line a baking sheet with foil and put the pecans on the foil. Bake at 300°F for 20 to 30 minutes. Stir pecans every 8–10 minutes.
  • Allow the pecans to cool before packaging.
