Sweet Milky Chai Tea

Either caffeinated or decaffeinated tea works well in this recipe. Standard commercial black tea works wonderfully, as do herbal teas such as peppermint. Serve over ice for a refreshing treat in hot weather.

Ingredients

  • 6 tea bags
  • 5 cups water
  • 1 cup low-fat milk
  • ½ cup honey
  • 1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
  • ¼ tsp. ground cloves
  • ¼ tsp. ground ginger
  • ⅛ tsp. ground allspice
  • ⅛ tsp. ground cardamom
  • ⅛ tsp. ground cinnamon

Directions

  • Place all the ingredients into a saucepan and stir well to combine.
  • Heat over high until the contents begin to steam, but have not yet boiled, roughly 5 minutes. Turn off heat and let sit 1 minute.
  • Remove tea bags and strain into a tea pot or mugs. Serve immediately.
