Sweet Tea

Classic Sweet Tea is a must at every Tex-Mex gathering. The sugar is dissolved in hot water, making a simple syrup, and is added to the tea while still warm for the best flavor.

Ingredients

  • 6 Tbsp. loose tea leaves
  • 3 cups cold water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 gallon container of water
  • 2 lemons, cut in wedges

Directions

  • Place tea leaves in a tea ball or strainer. In medium saucepan, combine cold water and sugar and bring to a boil, stirring to dissolve the sugar. Add the tea ball and remove from heat. Let steep for 25–35 minutes, then remove tea ball.
  • Pour mixture into gallon container and add enough cold water to fill the container. Cover and refrigerate up to 2 days. Serve with lemon wedges.
