Swiss Grilled Cheese

You can add extra protein to this simple sandwich by adding slices of ham deli meat or cooked bacon.

  • 2 Tbsp. butter, divided
  • 2 slices sourdough bread
  • 2 tsp. prepared mustard
  • 1⁄8 tsp. paprika
  • 2 slices Swiss cheese


  • Spread 1 tablespoon butter over the inside of one slice of bread. Spread the mustard on the inside of the other slice and sprinkle the paprika over it. Add the Swiss cheese and close up the sandwich.
  • Heat a frying pan on medium heat. Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in the frying pan, tilting the pan so that the butter coats the bottom.
  • Place the sandwich in the frying pan. Cook until the bottom is golden brown, then turn and coat the other side. Serve hot.
