Teriyaki Sauce

This quick sauce can be thickened with the addition of 1⁄2 teaspoon cornstarch dissolved in 2 tablespoons of water.

Ingredients

  • 3⁄4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1⁄2 cup water
  • 1 Tbsp. mirin
  • 1 Tbsp. sake
  • 3 Tbsp. light brown sugar
  • 1⁄2 Tbsp. minced garlic
  • 1 Tbsp. minced ginger

Directions

  • In a small saucepan over medium heat, whisk together all the ingredients and let the liquids come a low boil.
  • Reduce heat to low and simmer the sauce until thickened, about 8 to 10 minutes. Use immediately or store covered in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
