Tomato-Basil Hummus

Ordinary hummus gets all jazzed up with the tang of prepared tomato sauce, the sweetness of basil, and the spiciness of garlic, and delivers an extraordinary dish of intense flavors.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup chickpeas, soaked for 24 hours
  • ½ cup basil leaves
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 cup tomato purée
  • 1 tsp. all-natural sea salt

Directions

  • In a food processor, combine the chickpeas, basil, and garlic cloves. While processing, gradually add ¼ cup of the tomato sauce.
  • Once the mixture is chopped to desired chunkiness, transfer the hummus to a large glass dish. Combine the remaining tomato sauce with the hummus until well blended. Add salt.
