Warm Berry Compote
A great recipe in winter when you want the flavor of fresh berries. Frozen berries are put to perfect use in this cooked berry recipe. It’s also great topped with whipped cream or crème anglaise.

- 4 cups assorted frozen berries, no sugar added, thawed
- ¼ tsp. (or to taste) sugar substitute
- ½ cup butter
- Simmer the berries with about 2 tablespoons of water in a nonreactive medium-size saucepan for about 5 minutes. Add a pinch of sugar substitute, check for flavor, add more sugar substitute as desired. Add the butter and stir in to combine.
- Remove the pan from the heat, stir 1 more time, and divide the compote among 6 small bowls.
