Wine Cookies

Traditionally, these cookies are made into 3" circles, although you can cut them into any shape you would like.

  • 1 cup margarine
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup sweet sherry


  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • Mix together the margarine and sugar until creamy. Add the egg and beat until the mixture is light and fluffy.
  • Blend in the salt and 2 cups of the flour. Stir in the sherry. Add the remaining 2 cups of flour and mix well.
  • Chill in the refrigerator for 1 hour or until firm. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface until it’s about ⅛" thick. Cut with cookie cutters.
  • Place on a lightly greased baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes.
